Your hosts at Rainforest Hideaway are Rob and Aruni.

Rob grew up around the famous cheesetown of Gouda in
the Netherlands, but after finishing school and militairy service
got restless, travelled to a few different countries looking for more
space, adventure, opportunities and better climate, and finally found
it in Australia.
After many years of travels Rob finally settled down
in Cape Tribulation in 1993.
He had never built a house before, only a coffee table and a pergola,
but he figured any idiot can cut bits of wood to the right length
and then nail the ends together, and so Rainforest Hideaway came to
be.
Aruni originates from Thailand where she picked up her
spicy cooking and Thai massage skills.
Cape Trib is a good second home to her with similar climate to Thailand
and she has established a vegie garden, revived the tropical fruit
orchard on the property, and she does traditional Thai massage in
the gazebo by the big fishpond in Rainforest Hideaway.

massage in Cape Tribulation.

During the low season of February and March we always
take a break from Rainforest Hideaway and go to Thailand for our holidays.

On holidays in Thailand
The rest of the year we are either looking after guests,
or we are outside working on projects; sculptures, seating areas,
mini golf course, etc.

Returning guests find there is always something new to discover
Rob has been in and around Cape Tribulation and the
Daintree for decades and can tell you all about the best activities,
the best beaches, the wildlife, local issues and politics, the Dutch
history of Australia, and how to put concrete sculptures together.

Your hosts are also part-time super models for brochures,
